Members' Assistance Pool

As detailed in other areas of this website the emergency responders' sector can appear intimidating and present certain challenges to persons from CALD backgrounds seeking to contribute. Caldern is a unique organisation in the Australian landscape that seeks to empower culturally and linguistically diverse persons to contribute to the success and protection of the nation through volunteering or seeking employment in the emergency responders' sector.  To succeed in this aspiration requires committed individuals to assist Caldern members in the workplace and volunteer space. It is obvious that at this inaugural launch of Caldern the below roles are voluntary and remain so until appropriate funding is sourced and members can be reimbursed for their time under Caldern rules.

CALDERN ADVOCATES and SENIOR ADVOCATES

Although Caldern can benefit from certain specialist roles in developing a comprehensively professional organisation it is anticipated that members can act as advocates for their fellow members or others in the workspace. These roles would be operating and titled as ADVOCATES. There will also be opportunities for SENIOR ADVOCATES. In the first instance such advocates will be knowledgeable in the workspace or have some expertise in the emergency responder space or be willing to learn about the guidelines, policies and dynamics of each emergency responder areas' CALD integrative framework.

It is important to note that CALDERN is not a Union or Industrial Organisation but operates under similar rules reflecting the Charitable sector. Advocates are not delegates under the Fair Work Act however can act as Bargaining Agents nominated by members to represent their interests in negotiating workplace agreements Bargaining representatives | Fair Work Commission (fwc.gov.au) and can act as Support Persons for members facing performance or disciplinary reviews Unreasonable refusal of a support person | Fair Work Commission (fwc.gov.au).

Any interest in these positions should be directed to advocates@caldern.org

COMMUNICATIONS and SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGERS

Caldern would also benefit from members who have skills and experience in social media management. Caldern wishes to control our messaging and avoid misinformation and disharmony, especially in monitoring our members' blog. Any such members with skills who can volunteer their time to institute and develop a Caldern social media presence would be welcomed.

Any interest in these positions should be directed to media@caldern.org

CYBERSECURITY AND DATA PROTECTION MANAGERS

Caldern understands that the digital space is haunted by nefarious actors and as a start-up organisation requires assistance to ensure its operations and members' privacy remain safe. Skills in these areas will be most appreciated with the added acknowledgement that your contribution would highlight your endeavours that will add to your experience and resume should you aspire to these roles in the emergency responder space. This opportunity would be most suitable for recent graduates in these areas should you wish to volunteer in these roles as Caldern members.

Any interest in these positions should be directed to cyber@caldern.org

GRANT APPLICATION SPECIALISTS

Grants from a wide variety of corporate, business and government organisations are available to assist various community groups to achieve improved social outcomes. These include those that are directed to increasing social cohesion and assist CALD minorities. Achieving grant funding is an exhaustive and specialised activity that relies on specific skills. Caldern as a non-profit organisation working for the benefit of members believes that achieving some of our objectives may depend on obtaining grant funding. We welcome any member with these skills.

Any interest in these positions should be directed to grants@caldern.org

COMMITTEE OF MANAGEMENT

As per CALDERN rules within one year of the commencement of electronic receipt of memberships a general meeting of members will be conducted to elect a Committee of Management of the organisation, appoint a CHAIR, PRESIDENT, DEPUTY PRESIDENT, TREASURER, SECRETARY and decide the responsibility of these roles. Obviously, these roles are open to any member of Caldern. Acting roles may be considered.

Any initial interest in these positions should be directed to executive@caldern.org

All these positions will be allocated a personal Caldern.org email to undertake activities and communication with members. Caldern rule 4.6 allows for payment to a member for goods, services or expenses they have properly incurred.
