Caldern Legal and Education Fund
Empowering culturally diverse individuals in emergency services through legal and educational funding opportunities.
Caldern understands that CALD communities are disproportionately affected by the lack of education and credentials necessary in some cases to enter the emergency responders' sector. Some volunteers and members may also be exposed to incidents in the sector that are unsafe or infringe their rights requiring both legal assistance or court action. Although grants may be available to pursue these matters in court the prohibitive nature of court action can be financially overwhelming.
Caldern therefore commits to assign in trust 10% of all member contributions and other funding inputs to a Legal and Education Fund to assist members. This may assist where education opportunities present an opportunity for any Caldern member to heighten their likelihood of meeting entry requirements into an emergency sector role or express an interest in a study area likely to assist Caldern objectives. This may also assist where legal advice or action in court is required to test discrimination provisions.
Caldern's Committee of Management as a whole is responsible for any funding decision relating to the Legal and Education fund. Any correspondence relating to this fund can be forwarded to justice@caldern.org
